What is happening with the Sky beta program? Why was my beta access revoked? How do I join the Sky beta?

Starting on March 20, 2025, our beta program was restructured to improve feedback collection, mitigate leaks, and create a more efficient testing process which will allow us to partner more closely with our testers. As part of this transition, all beta access was removed and all progress was reset.

Players interested in participating in the beta program can find out more about applying through our official Discord server: https://discord.gg/thatskygame. Our #beta-faq channel answers common questions, and announcements for application forms and other beta news can be found in the #beta-announcements channel.

If you’re interested in applying, please keep the following requirements in mind:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be proficient in English

  • Must be a member of the official Sky Discord server

Testers will be selected from the applicant pool, and we’ll rotate new testing groups too, which will create opportunities for even more dynamic feedback from various perspectives as more people participate in testing.

Why These Changes?

This new approach allows us to:

  • Gather more structured and more varied feedback

  • Ensure greater security for in-development content

  • Maintain higher testing standards for future updates

[May 21, 2025 Update] The beta program has been updated so that only when explicit permission has been announced, testers will be permitted to publicly share specifically designated beta content.

As we've continued work to improve the beta program, we've determined ways to allow content creators and others in our testing program to share things like video and images while still preserving the security needed during our core testing phase.

Periodically, we will announce specific dates after which testers are free to share content such as videos and images from a designated patch. For a list of these “free to share” dates and full guidelines when it comes to sharing beta content, please see Can I post or share beta content publicly? When can I share beta content?

Important—Sharing information about beta content is not permitted unless explicit permission has been announced. If a tester is found to have shared any beta content outside of these specific situations, it will result in immediate and permanent removal from the closed beta program, among other actions.
