[May 30th]

Thank you everyone for the kind messages you’ve sent us! It meant a lot to us through all the work this past week, and helped us power through a really difficult situation. We’re happy to share that over the weekend we made a lot of progress towards restoring capacity to our development servers, thanks to our awesome and hardworking IT and engineering folks.

The 0.21.5 update is now expected to release tomorrow (May 31st, all times PDT), and our next event is slated to begin the day after that (June 1st). We’ve taken steps to make sure that you’ll still be able to play the full event without any further issues. The dates for that event have been adjusted so that it will still be available for the originally planned duration.

We did want to acknowledge, though, that due to complications caused by last week’s fire, players on Huawei ended up with the 0.21.5 patch earlier than players on other platforms, and for them the event began on May 29th, the event launch date that was scheduled before the fire.

Technically this means that those players will have access to the event for three additional days, and be able to gather event currency during that extra time. However, they’ll likely encounter other issues:

  • Players can only play together when they’re on the same update, so Huawei players may be unable to see friends or anyone else.
  • A themed Daily Quest tomorrow (May 31st) before the 0.21.5 update is released will cause a crash if a player tries to collect the event currency that is awarded after completing it.
  • The incorrect price for this year’s new IGC item will be displayed until the event starts for the whole playerbase (though it will not be possible to unlock since it will require more event currency than what is available in three days).
  • When the event begins for everyone on June 1, the event phase will be reset from Day 3 to Day 1.

This is not an ideal experience, and we apologize for that. To our Huawei players, we hope you’ll be able to enjoy the event more fully once everyone can play together again. To recognize this impact, we will not be resetting the event currency that Huawei players are able to collect before June 1st.

Please note that players on all other platforms will still have complete, originally planned access to the event when it begins, and we’re taking steps to make sure that everyone has access to collect the full amount of intended event currency once it’s live for all platforms. Once the event is underway we’ll send an inbox message explaining more.

Keep an eye out for a blog post coming later today with all the details of the event, which we’re excited to share! Thank you all for your support, and we’ll see you all in 0.21.5 soon.

Hello everyone! We have some news to share about an issue that will affect the upcoming 0.21.5 patch.

Early this week there was a fire at the facility that stores some of our servers. Thankfully no one was hurt, but unfortunately it resulted in damage to those servers. These are used to develop Sky—things like making updates, fixing bugs, and creating future content.

Since this didn’t affect live servers, Sky can still be played and this week’s Traveling Spirits will still visit. The game data was unaffected, so we feel confident that player accounts haven’t been impacted. However, this damage has impacted our ability to launch updates and work on the game.

This means that there will be some schedule delays for content in the 0.21.5 patch, most immediately the next Season of Passage quest and an event planned to begin next week.  It may result in players temporarily seeing a version of the 4th Seasonal Quest that cannot be played or completed. It will also prevent us from sending inbox messages, or deploying hotfixes if there are any emergent issues.

Our team will keep working through this as quickly as we can. The situation is still unfolding, so we don’t have a timetable yet for when the schedule for content will be back on track. We’ll share updates about the schedule and other details once we have that information, and we will be as transparent as possible during this process.

In the meantime, we apologize for any inconvenience this causes and truly appreciate your understanding. We hope to be able to share good news with you all soon.
