Hello Skykids!
With our latest update, we’ve expanded the Friendship System to player friendships. We’ve seen many questions and reports about these changes, so we wanted to take a moment to clarify how the updated system works and what players can expect.
The friendship progression system now offers players more flexibility in how you can grow your friendships. Similar to the Spirit friendship system, you can choose which paths to unlock instead of needing to unlock everything to progress.
Your existing friendship progress will not be lost. If you notice any missing progress, please report it through the feedback or bug report sections.
UI changes
Relationship unlocks have been reorganized into a tier-based progression system instead of the previous tree structure, following the Spirit Friendship system model.
- Unlocks are now grouped into progression tiers
- Acquiring unlocks within a friendship menu grants progress toward the next relationship tier.
- Reaching new tiers unlocks additional friendship interactions and rewards.
- Pressing and holding emote buttons with dots will trigger additional unlocked emote levels
New Ways to Build Relationship Progress
While fully completing the friendship path may cost more overall than before, players now have alternative ways to progress friendships, meaning not every progression step requires currency.
You can now increase relationship progress through more social activities:
- Sending a Heart Gift now contributes progress toward the next relationship tier.
- Lighting a friend’s daily candle also grants relationship progress.
- Completing Eden alongside other players will increase progression with each participating friend in the group.
- Expanded Friendship Emotes
Additional friendship emote levels have been added.
- Certain emotes can now be upgraded further with friends.
- New levels provide expanded expressions and interactions between players.
Important note about the emotes
Players who previously had level 1 and 2 emotes unlocked for the following emotes will now see levels 1 and 3 unlocked, while level 2 appears locked. This is expected, since level 2 is now a newly added emote tier.
Affected emotes:
- High Five/Double Five (Double Five level 1 and 2 are now High Five level 3 and 4)
- Handshake
- Side Hug
- Duet Bow
- Duet Dance
- Hair Tousle
- Playfight
- Bearhug
Previously:
- Level 1 = Animation 1
- Level 2 = Animation 2
Now:
- Level 1 = Animation 1 -> Unlocked
- Level 2 = Animation 1 + particles -> Locked
- Level 3 = Animation 2 -> Unlocked
- Level 4 = Animation 2 + particles -> Locked
The following emotes have received new levels for level 3 and 4:
- Fist Bump
- Hug
Your previous unlocks have been preserved under the updated emote progression system.
Travelling Spirit requirements removal
To address recent feedback, we will be removing the Traveling Spirit requirement for all levels of Social Emotes. These emotes will become available upon completing the corresponding Spirit's Memory, without requiring that Spirit to return as a Traveling Spirit.
The only exception is the Duet Bow emote, which will require completion of Quest 3 from the Season of Duets. This change is not yet available in-game, but it will be arriving in a future update.
Known issues with Friendship System
- The level 2 version of the Cradle Carry friendship emote is temporarily disabled while we work on a fix in an upcoming patch. The level 1 version of the emote is still available for use.
