Introduced with the 33.5 update, the Player to Player Friendship System is an expansion of the friendship menu that you share with your friends. The interactions you and your friend share are now arranged in tiers instead of a tree. Additionally, emotes that previously had only two(2) levels now have four(4) levels.
To access the friendship menu, meet your friend in-game and select their character to pull up the menu.
Tiers must be unlocked first before you and your friend can access the interactions they contain. Unlocking tiers requires you and your friend to build friendship with each other. This friendship is represented by the meter on the left side of the menu.
Friendship can be increased in the following ways:
- Unlocking relationship abilities and emotes in the friendship menu.
- Lighting your friend’s daily candle to send a Gift of Light in the constellations.
- Gifting your friend a heart.
- Gifting a season pass to your friend.
- Completing Eden with your friend. If you have two(2) or more friends in the group, your friendship with them will also increase.
Note:
- IAP gifting and unlocking chat do not grant friendship.
- For heart gifting through the constellations, friendship is increased once your friend redeems the heart. This also applies when sending a Gift of Light.
- Emotes must be unlocked in order from level 1 to 4.
Unlocking abilities in the friendship menu previously required spending candles to unlock emotes in order, even ones that you and your friend may want to skip out on. This is no longer the case, as doing social activities together will also allow you to progress through the menu in addition to unlocking emotes.
FAQs:
Where is the level 2 emote that was previously unlocked with my friend?
Two-player expressions that previously had 2 levels now have 4 levels. The expressions affected by this change are as follows:
- High Five/Double Five
- Fist Bump
- Hug
- Handshake
- Side Hug
- Duet Bow
- Duet Dance
- Hair Tousle
- Playfight
- Bearhug
With new versions of emotes added, players who had level 2 unlocked for these expressions in the friendship menu will now see level 3 unlocked. Relationship emotes have been reordered as follows:
- Level 1: No changes.
- Level 2 (New): Adds visual effects to the Level 1 animation.
- Level 3 (Previously Level 2): Features a unique animation different from Level 1.
- Level 4 (New): Adds visual effects to the Level 3 animation.
Exceptions:
- Double Five levels 1 and 2 are now High Five levels 3 and 4.
- No changes have been made to Fist Bump and Hug levels 1 and 2. New levels 3 and 4 for both emotes have been added.
The emote is not available when I try to unlock it in the friendship menu.
Emotes become available in the friendship menu upon completing the corresponding Spirit’s Memory. This applies to all levels of the emote.
The only exceptions are emotes that require playing through the associated season content. For example, Double Bow levels 1 to 4 require completing the third quest from Season of Duets first.
Additionally, High Five levels 1 & 2, Fist Bump, and Hug do not have specific requirements. They are immediately available in Tiers 1 to 4 of the friendship menu.
Note: High Five levels 3 and 4 require completing the Doublefive Light Catcher's spirit memory first to access.
I unlocked level 2/3/4 emote with my friend, but I no longer see it in our friendship menu.
You can find upgraded emotes within the same tier of the friendship menu where the level 1 version was first unlocked. The emote icon will now display dots that indicate each unlocked level.
To use an upgraded emote with a friend, press and hold down the emote in the menu until the dot for the desired level is highlighted, then let go to perform the expression.
